Mk 19 – Elden BEH 19

Formula Ford 1600 | 1977 | 1 Car Produced

The Elden BEH 19 was a Formula Ford 1600 and was a modification to the Mk 17 design which changed the rear of the chassis to be similar to the Mk 10, thereby increasing stiffness and reducing engine sway. New bodywork was also employed to provide a sleeker profile that improved cooling and aerodynamics.

As a protoype, these modifications were applied to an existing Mk 17 and were successful in providing the intended improvements. However the added weight slowed the car down and eliminated any competitive edge.

After a stint as a school car with the Brands Hatch Motor Racing Stables, the prototype was scrapped after being deemed too damaged to economically modify further.
